WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) announced that communities in Monterey and Santa Clara Counties will receive federal grants totaling over $7 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grants will be provided through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG), and HOME programs.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) announced that Santa Cruz received federal grants totaling over $752,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grants will be provided through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs.

Santa Cruz will receive a CDBG grant totaling $498,973 and a HOME grant totaling $253,105.

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) joined over 100 colleagues in the House of Representatives in sending a letter to President Donald Trump expressing disappointment in his decision to set the presidential determination for refugee admissions at 45,000 for Fiscal Year 2018. The letter urges the President to reconsider his determination and establish a minimum refugee admission level of 110,000 for Fiscal Year 2018, the same level as the Presidential Determination for Fiscal Year 2017.

SALINAS, CA – Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20) and Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (R-FL-02) led a bipartisan group of 79 House members in urging the USDA, FDA, and EPA to work together to promote innovative new technologies, including agricultural gene editing, to increase yields and reduce the cost of production. In the letter to Secretary Sonny Perdue, Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, and Administrator Scott Pruitt, the members seek the agencies' cooperation in creating consistent regulatory proposals that foster innovation.
