Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) applauded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement of a $128 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to the City of Santa Cruz to upgrade its drinking water system to be more resilient to drought and climate change.  Santa Cruz will be able to better protect its water supply and deliver safe, reliable drinking water for nearly 100,000 residents.

Washington, DC – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and a bipartisan congressional delegation led by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (CA-20) visited Israel to celebrate and mark 75 years of independence.  The trip lasted from April 30 to May 2, 2023.


May 15, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Lisa McClain (R-MI), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), and Chris Pappas (D-NH) introduced the STOP CCP Act. This legislation would require financial and visa sanctions on members of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. The STOP CCP Act also states that the CCP and General Secretary Xi Jinping have committed numerous human rights violations, including genocide.

Monterey, CA – Today, United States Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), Brad Wenstrup (OH-02), Don Beyer (VA-08), and Blake Moore (UT-01) reintroduced the bipartisan Reservist Pay Equity Act to better incentivize employers to continue to pay members of the National Guard and Reserves while activated.

Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced local student winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition, including special recognitions for technical skill and specific artistic mediums.  Janica Hannah Soro from Pacific Grove High School was named first place winner for her digital artwork titled, “Welcome to the Neighborhood.”  Janica’s artwork will be placed on display in the United States Capitol alongside winners throughout the country.

Monterey, CA – Today, U.S Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Zoe Lofgren (CA-18) announced that the Monterey County AmeriCorps will receive $920,000 in federal funding for literacy programs in the Alisal Union, Chualar Union, King City Union, and Monterey Peninsula Unified School Districts.

“All students deserve a high-quality education, and this funding will help make that possible. We will always fight for federal investments that boost community education efforts and help close achievement gaps,” said Reps. Panetta and Lofgren.

Santa Cruz, CA – United States Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) applauded the announcement that the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) Center for Agroecology will support the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) new Regional Food Business Center, to strengthen food supplies and connect producers to new markets.  Rep.
