Santa Clara County Reps Announce Nearly $11M for Health Care Services

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), and Ro Khanna (CA-17) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will distribute $10,892,685 to the Gardner Family Health Network, Inc. and Santa Clara County for health care services.

“The health and wellbeing of our community members is a shared priority, and we must work together to ensure everyone has access to high-quality healthcare services. We’re glad to announce these federal investments that will help support local healthcare efforts,” said Reps. Panetta, Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta.

The Members announced the following grants:

  • $7,068,660 to the Gardner Family Health Network, Inc. to continue offering comprehensive health care services.
  • $2,427,860 to Santa Clara County to support HIV emergency relief efforts.
  • $1,396,165 to Santa Clara County to improve public health infrastructure.

The first grant comes from HHS’s Health Center Program, which is overseen by the Health Resources and Services Administration, to support community-based and patient-directed nonprofit organizations that provide primary and preventive health care services to underserved populations in the U.S. This funding was provided by the FY24 consolidated appropriations package.

The second grant comes from HHS’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part A HIV Emergency Relief Grant Program, which is overseen by the Health Resources and Services Administration, to help provide medical and support services to people affected by HIV. This funding was provided by the FY24 consolidated appropriations package.

The third grant comes from HHS’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) program, which was created after the COVID-19 pandemic to support public health infrastructure needs across the United States. This funding was provided by the FY23 consolidated appropriations package.
