SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced a $628,422 grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support the University of California, Santa Cruz's work on verifiable computation. Scott Beamer, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, received this grant through a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award. The funding for this project also includes support for educational and outreach activities to help broaden and grow the hardware-design community.

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) introduced the Marriage Equality for Disabled Adults Act to eliminate requirements that disabled adult children (DAC) should remain unmarried in order to receive lifetime benefits and health care through Social Security. Under current law, DACs lose federal benefits if they marry a non-disabled person. SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) will provide the federal funding that he requested to repair the Nacimiento-Fergusson Road. Sections of the road located in the Los Padres National Forest were damaged by mudslides and flooding during a major storm in the winter of 2021. Many of those same sections of damaged road were located near or in burn scarred areas that were created by the Dolan Fire in 2020.

Today, Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) and David G. Valadao (R-San Joaquin Valley) introduced the China Trade Cheating Restitution Act to ensure that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) distributes the remaining antidumping duties to U.S. garlic, honey, and crawfish producers that weren’t paid by the agencies between 2000 and 2014.

Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) and Jody Arrington (R-Texas) sent a letter to President Biden requesting that he temporarily designate a supply chain coordinator, or "czar," to address problems that have plagued our supply chain and continue to wreak havoc in certain sectors of the U.S. economy. Establishing a central point of command at the White House on supply chain issues would provide significant relief to critical industries like agriculture, healthcare, and defense.
