WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH) introduced the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Modernization Act to simplify and modernize federal student loan forgiveness programs.

Recent U.S. Government Accountability Office reports have found major deficiencies in the U.S. Department of Education's administration of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness (TEPSLF) program.

Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) introduced the Immigrant Witness and Victim Protection Act, to remove barriers for undocumented immigrant victims and witnesses who may be eligible for protections under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and other federal laws. This bill will strengthen existing protections and ensure immigrant survivors of crime can work with law enforcement to prosecute criminals.

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Congressman William Timmons (R-SC), both members of the House Committee on the Budget, recently introduced the Bipartisan Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2019 (BiFRA). The legislation would require all future budgets considered by Congress include a ratio comparing the federal government's debt held by the public to the annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States.

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) announced the introduction of the Small Community Transit Improvement Act. This bill will increase the amount of funding provided to transit systems in small communities.

Co-introduced by Reps. Rodney Davis (R-IL), Greg Stanton (D-AZ), and Steven Palazzo (R-MS), H.R. 3758 will increase the apportionment for the Small Transit Intensive Cities Program (STIC) from 2% to 3% to keep up with the growth and success of the program.
