WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) introduced the California Central Coast Conservation Act, establishing a moratorium on all new oil and gas leasing on federal public land on the central coast of California.

The legislation is in direct response to the Administration's recent decision to allow for new oil and gas leasing and development on over 720,000 acres of public land in Central California, primarily in Fresno, Monterey, and San Benito counties.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the administration will increase requirements for hungry Americans using the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as CalFresh in California, and weaken states' ability to provide food assistance in high-unemployment areas.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) voted for the Pallone-Thune Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act. The bipartisan, bicameral agreement requires phone companies to offer screening technology to identify and block spam robocalls at no cost to customers. The legislation passed 417-3.

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that Salud Para La Gente and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas received federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Salud Para La Gente in Watsonville received a federal grant totaling $1,823,238.00 and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas in Salinas received a federal grant totaling $2,767,682.00.

This bill would help deliver energy for residents that is consistent and reliable.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, a bipartisan bill spearheaded by U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-19), Dan Newhouse (R-WA-04), Mike Simpson (R-ID-02), Doug LaMalfa (R-CA-01), and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL-25), passed the House Judiciary Committee on an 18-12 vote, recommending the legislation for a vote in the full U.S. House of Representatives.
