SAN JOSE, CA – Today, U.S. Representatives Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna G. Eshoo (CA-16), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will provide a total of $2 million to begin the process of converting Monterey Road in San Jose from a highway into a grand boulevard that is safer and more accessible to nearby communities.

Santa Cruz, CA – U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Jay Obernolte (CA-23), co-chairs of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) caucus, and 26 Members of Congress wrote Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to encourage the integration of AAM in national airspace in order to continue U.S. aviation leadership and set standards for the world.

Washington, D.C. - Today, during National FFA Week, Congressional FFA Caucus Co-Chairs, U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Tracey Mann (KS-01), and Congressional FFA Caucus members U.S. Representatives Bruce Westerman (AR-04) and Jim Costa (CA-21) sent a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack, urging him to fill the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s agricultural youth organization coordinator position; a position left vacant for more than eight months.

Santa Cruz, CA – In case you missed it, U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Santa Cruz County leaders highlighted $30 million in new federal funding to build the final phase of its planned Watsonville-Santa Cruz Multimodal Corridor Program.  Funding was secured through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Monterey, CA – U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced a more than $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for research taking place at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.  The $519,101 in federal funding will help deepen our understanding of the ocean and oceanography.

Santa Cruz, CA – In case you missed it, U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and the Santa Cruz County Office of Education hosted a roundtable to highlight the $1 million in federal funding secured by Rep. Panetta to help Santa Cruz County expand services for students through the opening two wellness centers in local schools.

Monterey, CA – U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced nearly $900,000 in Safe Streets for All grants for Santa Cruz County and the City of Monterey.  Safe Streets for All Grants will be used to help these localities develop comprehensive action plans to improve roadway safety, reduce roadway fatalities, and lay the groundwork for safer communities.  Santa Cruz County received a $687,958 grant, while the City of Monterey received $200,000 in funding.

Monterey, CA – Today, U.S. Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19) and Mike Kelly (R-PA-16) along with Sens. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Jerry Moran (R-KS) reintroduced the Broadband Grant Tax Treatment Act (BGTTA) — legislation that would amend the Internal Revenue Code to ensure that funding for broadband deployment from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the American Rescue Plan (ARP) will not be considered taxable income.
