MONTEREY — The Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2019 passed in the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday but still faces an uphill battle in the Senate and signature from the president before it becomes law.

The bill passed by a vote of 260 to 165 with support from 34 Republicans and 226 Democrats.
