Panetta announces cemetery funding
Rep. Jimmy Panetta announced Wednesday that the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery was awarded a federal grant totaling more than $6.4 million $6,417,059 from the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. The grant will be used for the expansion of the cemetery.

On Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives will move forward with a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.
Congressman Jimmy Panetta released a statement to the press after Pelosi's announcement in favor of the move.

The House will begin a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday, after a whistleblower complaint alleging the president withheld funds from Ukraine in order to go after Joe Biden came to light.
Hundreds of congresspeople, Rep. Jimmy Panetta among them, came out in support of an impeachment inquiry.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement that she would open a formal inquiry into impeaching President Trump came as a wave of newly elected House Democrats from toss-up districts in California and around the country came out in support of impeachment proceedings Tuesday.
California Congressman Jimmy Panetta introduced legislation Friday to "prevent harmful and unfair tariff engineering of Chinese dried garlic imports." While the U.S. levies a 30% tariff on dried garlic, loopholes allow for duties as low as 8% on other types of imported garlic.
Panetta said in a statement this has "allowed for Chinese garlic importers to disingenuously characterize their products."
Tensions are rising in the House Democratic caucus as a number of members say they feel they are being kept in the dark while nine of their colleagues negotiate changes to the new North American trade pact with the Trump administration.
