Monterey, CA – U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) released the following statement regarding the closure of Silicon Valley Bank by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI), which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as receiver:

Washington, D.C. - Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) and introduced the VSO Equal Tax Treatment (VETT) Act, bipartisan and bicameral legislation which would update a provision in the Federal tax code that currently prevents Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) from accepting tax-deductible donations unless they maintain a membership of at least 90 percent wartime veterans.

WASHINGTON, D.C – Today,  U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) joined Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly (IL-02) to introduce of the Federal Firearm Licensee Act. This legislation, first introduced in 2021 would update sections in the U.S. Code directed at federal firearms licensees (FFLs) that have not been updated in 30 years.

Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Pat Fallon (TX-04) along with Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) reintroduced the Everett Alvarez, Jr. Congressional Gold Medal Act to award Commander Everett Alvarez, Jr., the second-longest held Prisoner of War (POW) in U.S. history, Congress’ highest honor.  Rep. Panetta previously introduced the legislation last Congress.
