Washington, DC – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), alongside Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI), of the Select Committee on the CCP and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) introduced hallmark legislation to give the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) jurisdiction over all land purchases by foreign adversary entities and require mandatory CFIUS filing for foreign adversary entities making land purchases near sensitive sites, including all military facilities. This bill would mark the first change to CFIUS' mandate since 2018.

Washington, D.C. – As millions of Americans struggle to find a safe, affordable place to call home and homelessness continues to rise, U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) joined Darin LaHood (IL-16) and Suzan DelBene (WA-01), and Senators Maria Cantwell (WA) and Todd Young (IN) to introduce bipartisan legislation to build nearly 2 million new affordable homes over the next decade.

Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced more than $1.11 million for Marina and Monterey to assist homeless veterans to reenter the workforce.  The funding comes through the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program.

Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) reintroduced the House version of the bicameral Monarch Action, Recovery, and Conservation of Habitat (MONARCH) Act.  The legislation authored by Rep. Panetta, and co-led by Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), would expand support for the preservation, protection, and restoration of natural habitats for the western monarch butterfly, a symbol for both California and the West Coast.  Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) has introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.

Monterey, CA – United States Representatives Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) and Kat Cammack (FL-03) introduced the bipartisan Fair Access to Agriculture Disaster Programs Act to reduce barriers that producers face in accessing agriculture disaster assistance.  The legislation aims to ensure that basic safety net programs for producers are readily available to full-time farmers to get back on their feet following natural disasters.

Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced the 2023 nominations of local high school students to U.S. military academies.  The students will attend the service academies in the fall as they take their first steps toward becoming officers in the U.S. military.  Rep. Panetta held a reception for the nominees and their families on May 19th, 2023.
