The U.S. House of Representatives sponsors this competition each spring to recognize and honor talented young artists from each congressional district across the country.

The Clean Energy Production Parity Act ensures production cost equity across electric energy technologies. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced the companion bill in the Senate.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20) and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), lead sponsors of the bipartisan, bicameral KITTEN Act, today applauded an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that the agency would end its taxpayer-funded experiments on kittens. Previously, the agency had infected kittens with a parasite to perform toxoplasmosis research, then slaughtered and disposed of the kittens once the animals' research use was exhausted.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN) introduced the Restoring Investment in Improvements Act, H.R. 1869, bipartisan legislation that ensures restaurants and retailers are able to properly benefit from a tax provision meant to aid renovations and spur investment.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) cosponsored H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act of 2019. The legislation would allow Dreamers and individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to continue to contribute, work, and remain legally in the United States by providing an earned pathway to citizenship.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) led Congressman Brian Mast (R-FL), Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), and Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX) in introducing the bipartisan Kittens in Traumatic Testing Ends Now Act of 2019, or KITTEN Act. The bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture to end the use of cats in experiments that cause pain or stress. A companion piece of legislation was also introduced in the Senate by Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR).

"The vote and passage of the Bipartisan Background Checks Act is the first major action on gun violence by the House of Representatives in more than two decades. The expansion of background checks for all sales and transfers of firearms is an important step toward the necessary reduction of gun violence across our nation."
