April 7, 2023

Monterey, CA – Today,U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced nearly $2 million in federal support for Santa Cruz Community Health Centers. The $1,930,819 in federal funding will be used to support high-quality, affordable and comprehensive health services in English and Spanish for residents in Santa Cruz.

The funding for this grant comes through the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Health Center Cluster grant program, which is one of many programs that distributes Affordable Care Act (ACA) funding to community health centers across the country.

"Health outcomes and quality of life in our communities are connected to access to quality, affordable health care options," said Rep. Panetta. "I'm proud to fight for and secure significant federal support for Santa Cruz Community Health Centers to continue serving vulnerable populations and patients in Santa Cruz, no matter their ability to pay. I'm committed to strengthening the federal government's partnerships with local community health centers to continue expanding care options for everyone who calls California's 19th Congressional District home."

"We are thrilled to continue to receive these federal grant dollars," said Dena Loijos, MPH, Santa Cruz Community Health Centers Chief Strategy and Impact Officer. "Through this ongoing base funding support we are able to provide comprehensive services to our community's most vulnerable. We serve the physical, emotional, and social needs of over 12,000 people, over 2,000 of whom are unhoused, regardless of their ability to pay."
