Rep. Panetta’s Statement on the Passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein
Washington, DC – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) released the following statement on the passing of United States Senator Dianne Feinstein:
“As a woman of many firsts for California, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein fought for our values and laid the foundation for so many people to succeed throughout our nation. From Supervisor to Mayor to the longest-serving woman senator in history, Senator Feinstein stood out not just because she was a woman, but because she was a true public servant who cared about her constituents, challenged the status quo, and won. She took on the gun lobby, championed environmental protections, pushed for equal rights, and helped shed light on domestic abuse. As tough as she was in her fight for our values, her constituents and colleagues on both sides of the aisle found her to be kind, thoughtful, and generous. As the father of two daughters, I’m fortunate to have served with someone whose legacy has and will continue to inspire so many daughters, sons, men, and women, not just in California, but across our country.”
