Rep. Panetta Sworn-In To 118th Congress
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) was sworn-in as part of the 118th Congress representing California's new 19th Congressional District in the House of Representatives. First elected in 2016, this will be Rep. Panetta's fourth term in Congress. California's 19th congressional district stretches from northern San Luis Obispo County, up the coastline of Monterey County, into most of Santa Cruz County, and down to south San Jose in Santa Clara County.
"After several long days last week, we finally picked a speaker, which allowed us to proudly be sworn-in as United States Representatives for the 118th Congress," said Rep. Jimmy Panetta. As the federal representative for California's new 19th Congressional District, I'm honored to have been elected to continue my service for the people and the place that I've always called home. Similar to how we passed historic legislation for our nation and secured significant funding for my district during the 117th Congress, I am committed to implementing that legislation across the country, working with Democrats and Republicans to govern in Congress, fighting for the people and values of our diverse and dynamic 19th Congressional District, and upholding the values of our democracy in the 118th Congress."
In the 118th Congress, Rep. Panetta hopes to continue serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Agriculture Committee, and the House Armed Services Committee. He also was reappointed to serve as a Chief Deputy Whip and will continue to serve on the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
