Panetta Joins Pro-Choice & LGBT Caucuses
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) announced he joined the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus and Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus.
"These issues reflect our basic civil liberties and I'm ready to get to work pushing for equality, social justice, improved access to health care, and policies and programs to support healthy families. Throughout my campaign and into my first few weeks in office, I've heard from many constituents on these important issues and look forward to bringing people together to move our nation forward," said Congressman Panetta.
Founded in 2008, the LGBT Equality Caucus is comprised of Members of Congress who have made LGBT equality a priority. In the 114th Congress, the bipartisan LGBT Equality Caucus had 90 Members and led the charge on some of the most important issues in LGBT equality including fighting anti-LGBT appropriations amendments, advocating for executive action on education and aging issues, and pushing for landmark LGBT civil rights legislation like the Equality Act.
The Pro-Choice Caucus is a leading voice on a broad range of issues that come before the House of Representatives, including contraception, family planning, women's preventive health care services, international women's rights and access to reproductive health care.
