Panetta Announces Federal Grant for Santa Cruz Health Center
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.), announced that the Santa Cruz Women's Health Center has received a federal grant totaling $1,543,619 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Service Administration.
"I am proud to represent a diverse clinic system with providers who work hard every day to care for every person who walks through their doors," said Congressman Panetta. "This grant will help the Santa Cruz Women's Health Center continue to serve the needs of a diverse group of patients who may otherwise lack care. These funds will help promote healthy lifestyles for families including care for preventative services, prenatal care, and pediatrics as well as health education and counselling."
The funding for this grant comes through the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Health Center Cluster grant program, which is one of many programs that distributes Affordable Care Act (ACA) funding to community health centers across the country. The purpose of the FY2017 health center program awards is to ensure continued access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services for communities and vulnerable populations currently served by the health care program.
