KHANNA, ESHOO, LOFGREN, AND PANETTA ANNOUNCE NEARLY $11 MILLION IN FUNDING AWARDED TO THE SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

January 23, 2023

Washington, DC – Representatives Ro Khanna (CA-17), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced today that the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport was awarded $10,990,000 through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Biden. The project, which was selected as part of a competitive discretionary grant made through the FY 2022 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Terminal Program, includes upgrades to the airport terminal and improvements to ensure that the facilities comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

"The Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in my district serves millions of travelers each year and is essential to our local economy," said Rep. Khanna. "The funding from this grant will make vital improvements to the airport's terminal and accessibility. I'm proud to have played a role in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act negotiations. I thank President Biden for delivering on this historic investment that will help improve airports across the country and create good-paying jobs for years to come."

"Before we passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021, our nation's infrastructure had a nearly failing grade, partly due to out-of-date and inaccessible airports. Now, this $11 million grant from that law will bring San Jose's international travel hub into the 21st century," said Rep. Eshoo. "The benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will transcend generations thanks to these historic improvements in our communities that create jobs and improve accessibility."

"Americans with disabilities should be able to travel and access airport amenities fully and equally," said Rep. Lofgren. "I supported the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to upgrade our infrastructure in California and nationwide. These funds will help improve Mineta San Jose International Airport and ensure it is accessible to everyone in our community."

"Airports, like The Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, must make the proper investments and improve in order to keep up with the growing demands of its travelers," said Rep. Panetta. "Lying in the heart of Silicon Valley, people expect Mineta Airport to be modern and advanced. More importantly, they need it to be efficient and safe. This $11 million investment through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, will allow our airport to live up to our expectations when it comes to flying in and out of our community."
