Congressman Panetta Takes Oath of Office for 117th Congress

January 3, 2021

Today, Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) was sworn in to continue serving as the United States Representative for California's 20th Congressional District in the 117th Congress.

"I am honored and humbled to continue my service and fight for the people and values of our home on the Central Coast of California," said Congressman Panetta. "In my limited time in Congress, our country and communities have faced some significant challenges. Nevertheless, what I've experienced as your U.S. Representative, and long known as someone who has always called the Central Coast home, is that my commitment to serve and work hard, common sense, and ability to build trustworthy relationships are fundamental to getting things done for our communities. As your U.S. Representative, I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress and serve my constituents to ensure that government works for everyone. I look forward to working with President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to provide continued relief so that we can defeat this pandemic and get on the road to recovery for our health and economy. Moreover, with the leadership of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, we will continue our fight to combat the climate crisis, including the prevention of wildfires, protect Dreamers, farmworkers, and their families through immigration reform, invest in our infrastructure, and improve access to affordable housing and healthcare."

"During my short time in Congress, I've made sure that my service to the people of the Central Coast goes beyond just passing legislation from our nation's Capital. My constituents can continue to rely on me to serve as their bridge to Washington, D.C. and be their fighter through the federal bureaucracy on issues with Social Security, Medicare, federal employee retirement, immigration services, the military, veterans services, and much more," continued Congressman Panetta. "By continuing to provide that type of personal service, I am proud to serve and provide the people of our home with the opportunities that they deserve."
