October 31, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) released the following statement after voting in support of the next step in the impeachment inquiry. The resolution establishes the format for open hearings that will be conducted by the House Intelligence Committee as part of the House's ongoing impeachment inquiry, as well as procedures to transmit any evidence or report to the Judiciary Committee.

"With this resolution, the House of Representatives continues to live up to its responsibilities under the constitution," said Congressman Panetta. "I voted for it to provide a clear path forward in the public-facing phase of the impeachment inquiry. The resolution outlines the procedure for public hearings, the transfer of evidence, and the opportunity for the administration to participate. This is the next procedural step in the inquiry that continues to be about uncovering evidence, seeking the truth, and protecting our national security and the integrity of our democracy."
