Congressman Panetta Introduces House Resolution to Honor the Life and Legacy of Doris Day
SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20) introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring the life, contributions, and achievements of Doris Day. The measure is cosponsored by Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE-02), whose district regularly receives grants from the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
House Resolution 414 honors Ms. Day's significant contributions to the music and entertainment industries, her advancement of animal welfare activism, and her influence on future generations.
"Doris Day's joyful spirit and love of animals will be missed by her neighbors on the central coast of California. As we reflect on all the incredible things that she accomplished for our community, we also recognize her important contributions to our culture with this bipartisan resolution," said Congressman Panetta.
"Doris Day accomplished more in her lifetime than most people ever could. She was a trendsetter, an activist, and an icon, and has received numerous awards for her contributions throughout the years," said Congressman Bacon. "Whether it was through the entertainment industry or advocacy for animal welfare, she put passion and dedication in everything she did. Even though she is no longer with us, Members of the House believe she should be recognized and appreciated for her work. That is why this resolution is very important."
