Congressman Panetta Announces Over $4.5 Million in Federal Grants for Central Coast Health Centers

November 26, 2019

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that Salud Para La Gente and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas received federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Salud Para La Gente in Watsonville received a federal grant totaling $1,823,238.00 and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas in Salinas received a federal grant totaling $2,767,682.00.

"Community health centers play a vital role keeping Central Coast families healthy," said Congressman Panetta. "These grants will help our health centers provide community members with the care that they need and deserve."

The funding for these grants comes through the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Health Center Cluster grant program, which is one of many programs that distributes Affordable Care Act (ACA) funding to community health centers across the country. The purpose of the FY2019 health center program awards is to ensure continued access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services for communities and vulnerable populations currently served by the health care program.
