Congressman Panetta Announces More Than $890,000 in Federal Funding for Central Coast Community Health Centers

August 31, 2020

SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded a total of $893,734 in funding to five community health center networks, which will be used to support community health in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties.

"In order to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to properly equip our community health centers, which are the backbone of the Central Coast's health system. Throughout this crisis, our community health centers have faced unprecedented challenges as they provide high quality treatment and preventative cares to thousands of residents." said Congressman Panetta. "These grants will help ensure our community health centers are able to continue their work to keep everybody in our community healthy."

This funding was awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Health Center Cluster Program at HHS. This grant program has been tasked by Congress to help improve access to health care by building funding Community Health Centers, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity.
