Congressman Panetta Announces Housing Grant for Constituents with Disabilities
SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy (CA -20) announced that the Housing Authority of the County of Monterey received a federal grant totaling $205,950 from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grant provides Mainstream housing vouchers for affordable housing and an array of supportive services for non-elderly persons with disabilities.
"This grant will help our neighbors with disabilities live independently in affordable, accessible housing in the Monterey area," said Congressman Panetta. "As our communities come together to combat homelessness and expand access to stable housing, I will continue to advocate for strong investments in federal housing grants that benefit the Central Coast."
The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development provides localities and communities with 811 housing choice vouchers, otherwise known as Mainstream vouchers, to assist non-elderly persons with disabilities. Mainstream vouchers offer non-elderly persons with an avenue to affordable housing and various supportive services.
