Santa Cruz County health centers get grant

August 8, 2017

Rep. Jimmy Panetta has announced that health centers in Santa Cruz County and San Benito County have received federal grants totaling more than $3 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Santa Cruz County's share was $1.2 million.

"Community health centers and clinics are integral to our region's health care system," said Panetta in a statement released Monday. "These funds will help San Benito and Santa Cruz health centers."

The funding for this grant comes through the Health Resources and Services Administration's Health Center Cluster grant program, which is one of many programs that distributes Affordable Care Act funding to community health centers across the country. The purpose of these health center program awards is to ensure continued access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services for communities and vulnerable populations currently served by the health care program.
