Rep. Panetta Issues Statement on CBO’s Report on Republican Health Care Bill
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., issued the following statement in response to the Congressional Budget Office's report on the Republican health care bill:
"The detailed and thorough analysis of the American Health Care Act by the nonpartisan CBO demonstrates that the Republican bill will force millions of Americans to pay more for less care. The report makes it clear that over the next ten years 24 million Americans will be left uninsured and billions of dollars will be cut from Medicaid.
"Although the Republicans claim that this bill saves money through its schemes of tax breaks for the rich and insufficient credits for the poor, any savings will be at the expense of low-income and elderly members of our society who will be without coverage or care.
"I am deeply concerned of the impact that this bill will have on my district, where the uninsured rate has dropped by nearly ten percent since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The nonpartisan CBO report makes it clear that Congress needs to slow down and move forward together thoughtfully so that our health care works for all Americans."
