Coast Line: Rep. Jimmy Panetta announces HUD grant for Santa Cruz

Rep. Jimmy Panetta announced Tuesday that Santa Cruz received federal grants totaling more than $752,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grants will be provided through the Community Development Block Grant and HOME programs.
Santa Cruz will receive a Community Development Block Grant totaling $498,973 and a HOME grant totaling $253,105, according to a release from Panetta's office.
"Providing affordable housing is one of the greatest challenges we face on the central coast of California," said Panetta in a release. "These funds will help construct stable, safe housing in our community, and provide opportunity for people to build a better life for themselves and their families."
