Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) speaks to restaurateurs at our 100th Restaurant Roundtable
On Oct. 29, we celebrated our 100th Restaurant Roundtable of 2017. The event, part of a program that brings restaurateurs and lawmakers together, was held at Ted J. Balestreri's Sardine Factory restaurant in Monterey, Calif. U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) was the featured guest.
Why Roundtables are important: They allow restaurateurs and politicians to discuss how regulations and legislation could help or hurt business. Panetta said he was pleased to be able to meet with the restaurant owners and discuss the industry he worked in as a youth.
"Hearing directly from small businesses provides me valuable information about the issues they and their employees face. Congress should work to foster an environment that encourages job growth and economic prosperity, as small businesses work to expand employment opportunities in our communities."
Rep. Jimmy Panetta, (D-Calif.)
Balestreri, past chairman of the National Restaurant Association and its Educational Foundation, and chairman and CEO of the Sardine Factory/Cannery Row Company, thanked Panetta for speaking with the local restaurant and hospitality operators who attended the event.
"Restaurant roundtables allow for dialogue with our congressional representatives on issues impacting our businesses, including health care reform and immigration. It was a special honor to host the 100throundtable of 2017."
