Congressman Panetta Statement in Recognition of the 19th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks
SALINAS, CA – Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) released the following statement on the nineteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:
“19 years ago, our nation suffered the unimaginable loss of 2,977 innocent men, women, and children in the terrorist attacks of September 11. We will never forget that day and we will always be grateful to those who served and sacrificed thereafter, including the first responders who risked their lives in the intense search and rescue efforts."
“The countless acts of courage and bravery by those men and women on that day and through the months after continue to inspire all of us. Last year, my congressional colleagues and I overwhelmingly passed the permanent reauthorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act. That bill eventually was signed into law in order to provide the financial security and support that our 9/11 first responders, survivors, and families deserve.”
