Congressman Panetta Announces Federal Grant for Monterey Regional Airport
Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) announced that the Monterey Regional Airport received a $700,622.00 grant from the Department of Transportation under the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century. This critical infrastructure investment will go towards modernization, creating efficiencies, and bolstering safety measures at the Monterey Regional Airport.
“Our transportation infrastructure is absolutely crucial to our economy and way of life on the Central Coast,” said Rep. Jimmy Panetta. “This investment in the Monterey Regional Airport demonstrates the federal government’s support for the safety and efficiency of our local infrastructure. The modernization to our regional airport will pay dividends as we recover from the pandemic and people continue to travel to and from our community.”
“The Monterey Regional Airport is honored and grateful for the discretionary grant dollars, allowing us to continue working on our major plans, making this community asset safer and more efficient,” said MaryAnn Leffel, Board Member of the Monterey Regional Airport.
